Website Repair & Troubleshooting Services

Something on your website has stopped working, and you do not know why. We reproduce the problem, find the cause, fix it safely — and tell you what actually went wrong.

No guesswork and no random changes. A repair that leaves you understanding the problem is worth more than one that just makes the symptom disappear.

Common Problems We Repair

Most "broken website" reports come down to a handful of causes. Here are the ones we see most often.

White screen or server errors

The site loads nothing, or returns a 500 or blank page, after a change or an update.

Broken layout

Pages render incorrectly after a theme or plugin update, or on certain devices.

Forms that do not send

A contact or enquiry form appears to succeed but nothing arrives.

Plugin or theme conflicts

Two components disagree after an update, and a feature stops working.

Database errors

Content disappears, or the site reports a database connection or query error.

SSL and mixed-content warnings

Browsers warn the site is "not secure" because some parts still load over an insecure connection.

How We Diagnose and Fix

A reliable repair follows the same four steps every time.

1. Reproduce

We confirm the problem and the conditions that trigger it, so we are fixing the real issue.

2. Isolate

We narrow down the cause — a change, a component, a configuration or the environment.

3. Fix

We apply the smallest change that resolves the cause, with a backup and a rollback path.

4. Verify and explain

We test that it works, then tell you what broke and why — in plain language.

Repair or Rebuild?

Not every broken site should be fixed. Sometimes the honest answer is that a rebuild will cost less over time. We will tell you which applies.

Repair is usually right when…

  • The problem is contained to one area or component
  • The platform is current and supported
  • The site has been stable otherwise
  • The fix is smaller than a rebuild would be

A rebuild may be better when…

  • The site is built on an unsupported or abandoned platform
  • It has failed repeatedly in a short time
  • Fixes keep breaking other parts of the site
  • The underlying structure is the cause, not a single bug

We do not push a rebuild when a repair will do — and we do not keep patching a site that needs a rethink.

What Affects Repair Cost

Clarity of the cause

A clear, single cause is quick to fix. An unclear one takes longer to isolate.

Number of issues

Several linked problems cost more than one, even if they look similar.

Platform and access

Some platforms and setups are easier to work on, especially with clean access.

Risk of the fix

Changes near core files or data need more care and testing.

Urgency

Emergency repairs are prioritised ahead of routine work.

Whether recovery is involved

If data or a hacked site is involved, the work becomes a larger recovery.

We scope repair work after diagnosis and confirm it before starting, so the cost is agreed rather than discovered.

Website Repair & Troubleshooting FAQ

My website is broken. Can it be fixed?

In most cases, yes. Broken pages, forms, layouts and update errors are usually repairable without rebuilding the site. We diagnose the cause first, then tell you honestly whether a repair or a rebuild is the better route.

How long does a repair take?

Simple, single-cause problems can often be fixed within a few hours. Problems with an unclear cause take longer to diagnose. We give a realistic estimate once we have reproduced the issue.

Do you explain what went wrong?

Yes. A repair you do not understand tends to come back. We tell you what broke, why, and what will stop it happening again — in plain language.

What if the fix is not simple?

Then it becomes a scoped piece of work rather than a quick repair, and we quote it before starting. You decide whether to proceed once you know the scope.

Can you fix a site you did not build?

Yes. We work with the site as it is, using the access you can provide, and we tell you what we can reach and what we cannot.

Is my site down an emergency?

If the site is unreachable, or orders and enquiries are being lost, use the emergency path — it is prioritised ahead of routine work. For non-urgent problems, a standard repair request is fine.

Will repairing the site risk my data?

We take a backup before making changes, and work with a rollback path. Repair should reduce risk, not add it.

Should I fix it or rebuild it?

If the site is structurally sound and the problem is contained, repair is usually the right choice. If the site is built on an unsupported platform or has failed repeatedly, a rebuild may cost less over time — and we will say so.
