Website Migration Services: Zero-Downtime and SEO-Safe

Moving a website is easy to get wrong and expensive to get wrong. We move your files, database, DNS and SSL in a planned, staged way — so visitors see no outage and search engines see no lost pages.

URL mapping, 301 redirects and post-launch monitoring are part of the migration, not an afterthought.

What Website Migration Services Include

A migration is more than copying files. These are the parts that decide whether the move is invisible or painful.

Files and database

Your site files and database are moved together as a matched set, so the new site actually works.

DNS and SSL

Domain records and certificates are reconfigured so the new location is trusted and reachable.

Email and records

Email and related DNS records are preserved or reconfigured, so mail does not break during the move.

Staging preparation

The new site is built and tested at a temporary location before any visitor traffic is switched over.

301 redirect mapping

Old URLs are mapped to their new equivalents, so the equity and visitors you already have are carried across.

Post-launch monitoring

After the switch we watch for errors, missing pages and performance changes, and fix what appears.

The Three Risks of a Website Migration

Nearly every failed migration comes down to one of these. The whole process is designed to prevent them.

Downtime

A cutover that is rushed leaves the site unreachable while DNS propagates and the new server is checked.

Data loss

Files without a matching database — or a database missing recent changes — produce a site that loads but is wrong.

Lost rankings

Changed URLs without redirects tell search engines the old pages are gone, and the visibility you built disappears.

Our Migration Process

Six steps, planned in advance, so the switch is controlled rather than improvised.

1. Assess

We review the site, its platform, its data and where it is moving to.

2. Back up

A complete backup is taken, and kept untouched, as the safe fallback.

3. Stage

The site is rebuilt and tested at the new location, away from live traffic.

4. Map URLs

Old-to-new URL mapping and 301 redirects are prepared before the switch.

5. Cut over

DNS and SSL are switched in a short, controlled window, with rollback ready.

6. Monitor

We watch the live site for errors, missing pages and performance changes.

SEO Protection: What Happens to Your Rankings

This is where migrations are usually lost. We treat search visibility as part of the migration scope.

Before the switch

  • A full inventory of existing URLs
  • A mapping table of old URLs to their new equivalents
  • 301 redirects prepared and tested
  • Canonical tags and sitemap reviewed

After the switch

  • Sitemap resubmitted to search engines
  • Indexing and coverage watched for dropped pages
  • Redirects checked for chains and errors
  • Performance compared against pre-migration baselines

We do not promise a ranking position — that is decided by search engines. What we promise is that we will not hand your visibility away through avoidable mistakes.

What Affects Migration Pricing

Site size and complexity

More pages, custom features and integrations mean more to move and verify.

Platform and hosting change

Moving to a different platform or server type adds work and risk.

Ecommerce and dynamic data

Orders, customers and payments require careful handling and testing.

SEO protection scope

URL mapping, redirects and monitoring are included; larger historic sites take more work.

Migration is billed as its own engagement, separate from hosting. Send the site and the destination and we will scope it.

Website Migration Services FAQ

Will migrating my website hurt my search rankings?

A careless migration can. A planned one should not. URL mapping, 301 redirects, a resubmitted sitemap and post-launch monitoring are what protect the rankings you already have. We do not promise specific positions, but we do remove the avoidable causes of a drop.

How long does a website migration take?

Timing depends on the size and complexity of the site. A straightforward move can be completed in days; a large store or a site with many custom features takes longer. We give a realistic timeline after reviewing the site.

Will there be downtime during the migration?

The goal is a zero-downtime switch. The new site is prepared and tested in advance on a staging environment, so the final change is a short, controlled cutover rather than a long outage.

Will my data and emails move too?

Site files and databases are migrated as a matched set. Email and DNS records can be migrated or reconfigured as part of the move — tell us what you use, and we will confirm what is in scope.

Do you sell hosting?

No. The migration service moves your site to the host of your choice; hosting is arranged by you or recommended for you to buy directly. We do not sell hosting, so our advice stays neutral.

What if the migration goes wrong?

The original site is kept untouched until the new one is verified. If anything is wrong, we can direct traffic back to the original while we fix it — which is why we plan the rollback before we start.

Can you migrate an ecommerce store?

Yes, with care around orders, customers and payment configuration. Large ecommerce migrations are usually a project with their own plan — see Ecommerce Website Maintenance and WooCommerce / Magento pages.

Can you move my site from one platform to another?

Sometimes. Moving between platforms is a rebuild as much as a migration. We assess whether the content and structure can be carried across cleanly, and tell you honestly if a rebuild is the better path.

Move Your Site Without Losing Anything

Send the site URL and where it is moving to. We will assess the risks and scope the migration.
